I’ve been invited by Artur Luczsak and Majid Mohajerani to give a tutorial at the 2017 Canadian Neuroscience Meeting during the satellite event they organized. I spent some time working on it, taking Head-Direction cells as an example of how to compute a tuning curve, quantify information rate transmitted about a given parameter by a spike train, investigate neuronal correlations during wakefulness and sleep and decode signals from population activity. I wrote a handful of Matlab scripts, as well as pre-processed data in Matlab format and uploaded the whole thing on Github. I also put the slides of the tutorial there. I guess this may be useful for anyone starting in the field, or to provide support for those who are teaching similar topics. Have fun!
